Week 3

 Part 1:

Time management was an area I identified last week as something I needed to work on to improve my study habits. I tend to struggle finding the will to stop what I'm doing and begin studying. Something I should do, is continue doing the weekly activity log that I started last week, and block in time where I will study. I should remember to block in times specifically where I'll have the most energy to prevent fatigue from stopping my need to study.

Part 2:

In this week's readings I learned a lot more about ethics. While I've previously taken an ethics class in my associate degree program, the readings provided in this week were a great refresher. Some important ethics topics that were covered this week were ethics frameworks and theory, as well as the difference between ethics, morals, and law.

Additionally, in this week's OLI module 3, I learned more about my work style, and what I can do to better support the work styles of my teammates. Another thing I learned about are conflict styles and how I tend to handle various conflicts.

Part 3:

Something that I found very interesting and Important in this week's reading assignments was my need to make a portfolio. While I have a resume written, showing my educational and professional background, and links to my GitHub and LinkedIn profiles, I don't have a portfolio detailing any of my projects. It may be a good idea for me to make my own website to display all of my projects and the technologies I've used.

Part 4:

Coding integrity is important for me and other students because it ensures that we don't participate in and/or aid plagiarism. While it is okay to seek assistance when issues arise in assignments or you are having trouble understanding what is being asked of you, ensure that you cite where you got your help from and who to ensure they receive the proper credit.

  1. Hi Zach, I understand your struggle with time management. I saw your weekly activity log and could see that you work too. I would suggest you assign maximum study hours on the days when you are not working and assign at least 2 hours on the days when you are working. During these 2 hours you can do short assignments and readings.

  2. Hi Zach, I also get bit by the procrastination bug quite often! Keeping organized and scheduling time when studying should be done is a good way to ensure work gets done. I've also found that mentally "tricking" myself into starting to study has also worked. For example, I will tell myself I'm only going to do a 5 minute task, or I'll only complete whatever the easy task is. Often times, this gets me primed and ready to continue to study anyway, but without the pressure of having to complete large amounts of work in one sitting (even if I end up studying for a long time after all).

  3. Zach, I think you can try reminders, alarms, and the use of a calendar. For example, I use scheduling and blocking out time on Google calendar. That makes the time I set aside for course work seem more real because I am forced to change my calendar if I want to do something else. I Also set calendar to notify 10 minutes before the time block starts.
