Week 10

This week I completed CodingBat assignments, setup IntelliJ, CodingBat, and Git accounts, completed quizzes, and completed a coding assignment to learn UML and Junit. For the second CodingBat assignment, I started by taking an approach of planning out my solutions, as I needed a refresher on string manipulation in java, however for the map and functional sections I mostly threw code at the problem. Throwing code at the last two sections worked pretty well and often worked the first try as I was more comfortable with those subjects.

Week 9

Last week we got started with CST 338 (Software design). I got IntelliJ activated and setup, along with Android Studio, CodingBat, and Git. I attended Dr. C's orientation, where I learned more about how the class will be structured, along with the projects we will be completing. I'm looking forward to beginning a class that involves coding.

Week 8

Part 1: Review Other Teams' final video projects: Sports Technology ( (57) Sports Technology Long Video - YouTube ) Then topic is covered well, with the group's introduction to various areas where sports technology is being applied. The presentation is clear with visual aids to go along with each point. Research has been done as the links advancements in technology to the benefits that have been seen in sports as a result. The video production is clear and easy to follow with videos keeping me engaged while listening. The team worked together to present their topic, and the level of detail applied to each video is relevant to their intended audiences.  Quantum Computing ( Quantum Computing Presentation - OtterAI - YouTube ) OtterAI covers Quantum Computing well. The presentation is clear and goes over history to give some background, then follows it up with more technical information that is once again easy to follow. The team's research was excellent, explaining key contr...

Week 7

1. Our team's project planning has gone well. We set up a time to meet on discord and within the meeting we were able to compile sources, notes, and assign tasks to each member of the team. The process went smoothly, though ideally next time we'd have more time to plan and complete the project. 2. One TED presentation I watched was about self-assembling transistor materials, presented by Karl Skjonnemand. The presentation was very interesting and overall, very engaging. The topic was explained in a way that would maintain a watcher's interest and the technology was truly interesting. The use of a visual aid also helped to get the speakers point across. Another activity this week was the presentation skills video and reading. One thing that was explained in the reading was the use of visual aids and props. As I explained in my TED talk review, I found the use of visual aids helped the audience understand the concept being explained and made the presentation more engaging. Di...

Week 6

 1.      After watching a previous capstone project presentation something that stood out to me was the PetRecs project. As a dog owner, and a foster for a dog rescue organization, an idea having to do with the welfare of animals surely caught my attention. One idea that my teammate had was software for animal grooming and health. The idea was to remind users to set-up grooming appointments for their pets and assist in setting them up automatically. In addition, the application would notify a user of needed vaccinations for their pets. 2.      This week I worked on creating an ILP Portfolio website shell, created a cover letter and refined my resume, write my Ethics Argument Essay draft, and completed OLI modules 8 and 9. While I'm not great with front end website design, completing the portfolio shell was interesting. It will be good to look back on once I've completed the program to see all I've accomplished. The resume updates and cover letter ...

A web application to help individuals with mindfulness. Daily mindfulness reminders and activities can be assigned to individuals. A mobile application game incorporating computer vision which assigns a user an object, and a user has to find the object and scan it with their phone. 3.           This week I learned about logical fallacies, conflict recognition, and conflict strategies. It was good to learn more about logical fallacies. I've heard the names of most of the logical fallacies due to my interest in listening to debates, however it was good to learn more about what each of them really mean, and how to spot them. Additionally in...
